Certified (HHA/PCA) - Caregiver for Personal Care Job Types: Full-time, Part-time and Live-In Positions Available Work Location: Travel and work at client locations Wage: $20.00-$20.59/hour + $100.00 referral bonus for all HHAs/Caregivers who are hired/clients who are brought on WE ARE SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR CAREGIVERS WHO SPEAK FLUENT SPANISH, KOREAN, TAGALOG, MANDARIN, OR CANTONESE AT THIS TIME. Our caregivers provide clients with one-on-one personal care to help our clients remain safe and independent in their home. We fit your area of expertise to the seniors you’ll care for. Senior Helpers of Northern Queens is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Caregivers to provide support in our clients’ homes to help maintain their independence. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and have a pleasant and friendly personality. We provide a full range of superior home care services to culturally diverse clients—Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Yiddish and English speaking clients. All Caregivers will be required to submit or undergo a full annual physical with MMR (MEASLES/MUMPS/RUBELLA) and PPD/TB TEST(less than a year old) as required by the state. What we provide:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: * Assist with personal care activities including:
  • Baths (sponge, tub, shower and bed bath)
  • Oral hygiene
  • Basic skin care and foot care
  • Grooming of hair (shampoo and combing), shaving, and ordinary care of nails
  • Toileting
  • Catheter and ostomy care (Empty Only)
  • Transferring (bed to chair, wheelchair and shower, etc.)
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Change diaper/brief
  • Ambulation
  • Medication assistance/reminder
  • Assist with home exercise plan
  • Assist with household tasks necessary to the client’s health care needs, including:
  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals
  • Assisting in feeding client, as appropriate
  • Light housekeeping of client’s environment, including linens and making bed
  • Laundering client’s clothing and bedding
  • Assisting clients with shopping
  • Use equipment and supplies safely.
  • Engage with client in conversation, hobbies, activities, board games and other types of proper activities for the client.
  • Monitor, observe, and encourage range of motion exercises and other procedures as instructed by any professional staff.
  • Maintain a written log with receipts of all client money used to purchase goods or materials for the client’s care.
  • Report any changes in client’s condition to the Supervisor.
  • Document care provided consistent with agency requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or educational equivalent.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working in home health care.
  • Must meet NY state requirements for Personal Caregiving services (Hold an active HHA License).
  • Must have safe and reliable transportation to go to and from the client’s location and/or facilities and have a vehicle available during assignments in order to assist clients with shopping needs if required.
* Preferred:
  • Have a valid and current state driver’s license and insurance.
  • Be available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS include but are not limited to: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with medical limitations or disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Able to lift, move, and assist clients. If you feel you cannot safely lift the client, please notify the office immediately.
  • Ability to safely assist client in and out of a vehicle and safely lift a wheelchair or walker weighing up to 50lbs into and out of a vehicle.
  • Able to communicate with others to accurately exchange information.
  • Able to operate office equipment such as a computer, phone, etc.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Able to perform tasks such as lifting, light housekeeping, walking and driving.
