Katzen Eye Group is searching for an enthusiastic, patient focused Ophthalmic Scribe for our Lutherville, MD office with weekly travel to two other Baltimore Metro office locations - No late evenings, no major holidays or Sundays, a robust benefits package, a team oriented working environment where you are seen, heard and respected as well as clear career ladder opportunities

 Our Ophthalmic Scribes are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by navigating the Electronic Health Record and documenting information as dictated by the physician.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists physician with documentation of the patient’s medical record
  • Transcribes the impression and plan, diagnostic test results, prescriptions and orders
  • Completes electronic refill requests
  • Type and send communications to patients and other healthcare providers
  • Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full after testing
  • Escorts patients to front desk after exam
  • Completes billing and coding as directed by the physician
  • Monitors schedule to stay on-time of patient scheduling
  • Other duties as requested by the physician (ie fax/call pharmacies or physician’s offices, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Knowledge of EHR
  • Knowledge of billing/coding
  • Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrate superior computer skills
  • Highly energetic with positive attitude
  • Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours
  • Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting
