The family enjoys a variety of cuisines, particularly Japanese, Mediterranean, and other international flavors, and requires someone who can thoughtfully accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, including pescatarian meals. This role offers a consistent weekly schedule with generous downtime when the family travels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dinner service five nights per week (Sunday–Thursday), with Fridays and Saturdays off.
  • Prepare fresh, farm-to-table meals using seasonal and high-quality ingredients.
  • Cook a variety of cuisines with emphasis on Japanese, Mediterranean, and other global inspirations.
  • Accommodate dietary needs and preferences, including pescatarian meals.
  • Prepare separate meals for small staff, or set aside suitable leftovers.
  • Support entertaining, including informal family gatherings, weekly guest dinners, and formal dinner parties (6–12 guests, with extra support for larger events).
  • Collaborate with household staff to ensure seamless service for events and daily meals.
  • Manage kitchen organization, inventory, and sourcing of ingredients.
  • Travel occasionally with the family and adapt menus as needed.
  • Split time between the Peninsula and San Francisco residences (will vary.)

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Private Chef or in fine dining environments.
  • Strong background in farm-to-table cooking and use of fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Skilled in a wide variety of cuisines, with emphasis on Japanese, Mediterranean, and globally inspired menus.
  • Ability to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences with creativity and care.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and execute menus independently.
  • Flexible, low-key, and collaborative, with a discreet and professional demeanor.
  • Comfortable with occasional travel and shifting between multiple residences.
  • Culinary degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel on occasion

Compensation & Benefits

  • Schedule: Sunday-Thursday (Friday/Saturday off) - primarily dinner service, with occasional special requests
  • Compensation: 160-200K DOE, benefits (M/D/V), 401K + Discretionary Bonus
  • Location : SF & Peninsula
